Excellent Product

I read reviews all over the place and even read forums. I looked at the pros and cons. I had a scoopfree for 2 years and although it was good i still had to scoop after several days since the poop compartment would get full. So far, I absolutely love the product. It was packaged well with good instructions. It has been working flawlessly. The only problem that needs to be fixed is the litter. It gets everywhere.

I have had the catgeneie for about 5 months now. It clogged 2 times in the first two weeks. Since then I back wash the drain hose every other day. Just listen for the glug glug of the water and you know the hose is clear. My catgenie is next to a utility sink and drains into the washer outlet, so it makes it easy to do. Since then no clogs.
Also my two cats didn’t take to it very well. I put a plant caddie inside the catgenie and filled it with regular litter and they were using the catgenie with the washable granules the next day.
Also I would get the catgenie cartridge reset and refill your catridges.
It too works great. I use a petsafe odor and stain remover from petsmart. It has a mild detergent and nonpathogenic bacteria as active ingredients.
The granules do stick to their paws, but no more litter to lug around and no more dust makes up for that small problem.
All and all I have had good luck with the product. I would definately get this.

An AWFUL product.

I was excited to get this Cat Genie. What a concept and to never touch or clean the litterbox again…sounds wonderful! I have 2 short haired cats and though this would be a blessing. If only it were true. For the first 4 months, the Cat Genie worked as described. However, ever since that period I have had PROBLEM after PROBLEM. And, let me tell you, when you get an error message…to clean out the unit is absolutely disgusting. This entails taking the unit apart, hosing and cleaning each part down (including urine and poo which sometimes is sprayed into your face int he process) and putting it all back together again only to have it error again 2 days later. I’ve called Cat Genie multiple times. They have sent me ALL available upgrades (new turbo hopper aka power flusher system, new genie hand and scrubber), but the unit continues to malfunction. I am an engineer and have looked deeply into the design of this product and know that the design is just flawed. When the unit malfunctions, the house reaks of poo, even worse burnt poo (an effect created buy the heated blower intended to dry the granules). The company has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. I know, like me, you want to try this out and HOPE this won’t happen to you. But trust me, it IS NOT worth the $[...]+ investment!!!! First off I would like to say Bravo to the creator of the Cat Genie. Their clever little machine has eliminated the chore of cleaning a litter box and has removed the awful cat litter smell from my house. When I first purchased the machine I was a little skeptical. My cats had already broken two Litter Maids in the past.
After unpacking the Cat Genie I was disappointed that the tee-adaptors included in the box would not fit my toilet plumbing (I have the worst luck with not having standard sized things in my house). I called Cat Genie’s customer service on a Friday night and left a message. I figured I would hear back from them on Monday. They called me back 2 hours later! The representative I spoke to was very helpful and gave me some ideas to get my Cat Genie up and running. After a quick trip to the hardware store I was ready to set up the Cat Genie. It took about 20 minutes to set up and was super easy to do!
The Cat Genie came will all sorts of literature on how to best introduce your cat to the new box. My two cats adjusted pretty well. One of my cats has always had accident issues but he is getting more comfortable with the Cat Genie.
The design of the box is incredible. Someone really took the time to think about every aspect of the cleaning cycle. The little plastic litter pieces do get tracked around the bathroom, but they are not as bad as real litter. There is no dust like you get with real litter. I find the sani-solution smell to be pleasant. It makes the bathroom smell clean.
So far it has worked beautifully. I have 2 large cats and run the cleaning cycle once a day at 6:30am. They don’t seem to use it much during the day time so why waste the cleaning cycle?!
I highly recommend this product to anyone that is tired of scooping poop!

Great product if you can get your cats to use it

I think this is a wonderful product we have had it for 6 months and have not had any problems with it. However, I have one boy who will not use it at all. When we removed access from the tradional box he found other places in the house to go. If they all would use it we would buy another and go totally litter free.
We have 4 cats. 3 will use it.
Pros: Touch free waste management, no oder
Cons: Cats will not all use it. if the power goes out in the middle of a cycle be prepared for a mess. Replacement cartriges and granules are expensive.
