This was supposedly an upgrade YUK!!!! I hate it!!!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I thought this newer model was an upgrade and would work even better and since I had the older one for several years (at least 4 back when the old rack was plastic and not medal). The darker color shows everything (all the dust from the litter, etc). The front pieces that slip on that the lid and the covered step attach to keep falling off. I have to continually scoop the clumps and crap myself all during the day (when I'm here) because it does such a sorry job. Even though I ordered the accessory kit with the cover I've noticed an odor that I never noticed with the old model. I absolutely hate this new model; but unfortunately since I live in an apartment I didn't keep the old one (how I wish I had). Anyone considering changing to this "elite" version DON'T!!!!

Worst Littermaid Product Ever
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have had a LitterMaid system for almost 15 years and only replaced my first unit one 4 years ago. I had to replace the last one and thought this machine would be made with the same quality as my others. However, this is the worst Littermaid product because the construction is made very cheap. The unit does not lock into place, nor does the waste receptacle line up with the unit. The rack did not snap into place as illustrated on the CD, instead one side would stay connected and the other side would just hang down off the track. I sent it back. Very disappointed with LitterMaid on this product.

One of the worst products I have ever purchased
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I adopted 2 kittens a couple months after my adult female passed away. I wanted to start off right away with the best litter box I could afford. By purchasing the elite mega I started off with a huge nightmare instead. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! The rake does not effectively scoop and I buy premium litter. What does get scooped barely makes it into the receptacle making a huge mess. The receptacle is tiny and the filter and ionic breeze are NOT effective at reducing odor. The plastic tray does not come out easily and therefore snaps out causing an even bigger mess. I'm still in awe at the cost of such a miserable piece of equipment.

Poorly Designed and Tested
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I've had this for about seven months but it has never worked properly. The cabana accessory with aluminum hoops acts like a big spring that pushes the litterbox out of true shape so that the rake will not travel properly, eventually breaking it. It took about two months to replace the rake due to a parts shortage. When I tried to get it working again I discovered I had to snap one of the aluminum hoops to stop it from springing the litterbox out of shape. Actually I didn't "have" to break it, but trying to bend the hoop into a more appropriate curve snapped it easily. I was just relieved that a problem had been solved.

Once that was "fixed" I discovered another problem that had been plaguing me from the beginning: A 2-cent plastic arm that carries power from a ribbon cable to the traveling motor will sometimes catch on the chassis while the rake is traveling. It catches easily and it catches very securely and it will snag the traveling motor. It's like getting your wrist-watch snagged in a fence while riding your bicycle. It tends to pull the plastic arm out of shape so that it will be much more likely to catch next time. It probably won't happen out of the box but it will happen eventually from normal wear and tear and once it does your unit is doomed. This is probably one of the most bone-headed design flaws I've ever seen.

Correction: It is actually the ribbon cable (that carries power) that is getting snagged on the chassis. Not that this is any better, but it means that it will not necessarily get any worse. It just randomly snags while traveling. I'll see if I can do something to fix it.

Good Autobox
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I like the product. It did take my cat at least 2 weeks to start using it normal. However, it does make my life easier since i no longer need to scoop. I do not replace the plastin poop receptable every week. To save money, every night I empty out the content from the receptable in my trash so it avoids holding the feces for more than one day. This keeps the smell down and also I do not need to buy the expensive receptable.
